Regional Director, Roberto Valent, visited the plastic lumber greenhouse that will be used to teach young and mature clients of the Autistic Society of Trinidad and Tobago how to earn a livelihood by growing their own vegetables and seasoning.
The UN’s GEF Small Grants Programme Trinidad and Tobago funded the purchase of upcycled plastic lumber from Flying Tree Environmental Management and construction of the greenhouse, as well as the purchase of hydroponics units and seedlings. It’s a great project that merges environmental sustainability, financial empowerment and skills training and inclusion of Persons With Disabilities.
The GEF SGP National Steering Committee joined ASTT Centre Manager, Amoy Boodoo and her team at Autism Place, D’Abadie to give Mr. Valent and UN Resident Coordinator, Joanna Kazana, a tour on 23rd May
